Orthodontics for Children

As a parent, it’s understandable that you want the best for your child . That includes healthy teeth and a beautiful smile. At OPD Smiles it is our goal to treat your child if they were our own, by providing the best orthodontic care.

The American Association of Orthodontist recommends that children get their first orthodontic check up no later than age 7. At OPD Smiles we provide a free early evaluation, to give your child the best opportunity for a healthy, beautiful smile. Dr. Michael will evaluate your child to discuss whether early intervention would be beneficial at this time. Dr. Michael takes a very conservative approach with younger children, and will only initiate treatment if there is a clear benefit.

Orthodontics for Teens

Teen girl with braces

In today’s world of social media, selfies, and Instagram filters; teenagers are experiencing more pressure than ever to maintain an excellent smile. While our dentists strongly believe in the importance of inner beauty, we also have the skills needed to help your son or daughter enjoy a straighter and more confident smile.

Between the ages of 10 and 15 is the most common time to begin orthodontic treatment. By age 12, most if not all permanent teeth have erupted and crooked teeth, gaps, and bad bites can easily be detected. These problems do not correct themselves and in some cases get worse, which is why it is important to seek a complimentary orthodontic consultation.

Upon consultation, Dr. Michael will present a customized treatment plan to you and your teen. Several treatment options are available, including metal braces, clear/ceramic braces, and Invisalign. Dr. Michael’s recommendation will depend on the severity of your child’s orthodontic concerns and any personal preferences regarding the appearance of their braces.

Adult Orthodontics

You are never too old to benefit from orthodontic treatment. Today, more and more adults are beginning their own smile journeys. Adults now make up about one in every four orthodontic patients.

While metal braces are always a viable option, we understand that adults are more likely to want an approach that’s subtler and suited to the professional world. That’s why we offer aesthetic-friendly choices like clear/ceramic braces and Invisalign®.

Let’s do this.
